My Story

Twelve years ago, I was a finance professional at the peak of my career at the age of 36, earning a high salary with a great company; yet deep inside me, I felt UNFULFILLED with my life and the career that I had built in 17 years. I desperately wanted to be HAPPY again!

I KNEW EXACTLY the things that would make me happy; PURSUING ART was one of them. As I slowly became UNMOTIVATED at my job and HATED going to work everyday, I decided that IT'S TIME TO CHANGE. 

This led me to the path of searching for a mentor, program, course (anything...) to help me with my TRANSFORMATION and uncover my true self, but I FAILED miserably, simply because I COULDN'T FIND THEM.

All in all, it took me 5 YEARS to finally ACHIEVE my dreams due to the LACK OF ROLE MODEL(S) in my journey who could provide ACTUAL GUIDANCE and ACTIONABLE ADVICE for my situation.

I really DID it all by myself, and I swear..., I had NEVER FELT SO LONELY in my life before, as I had NO SUPPORT from my FAMILY and FRIENDS either.

Despite all my FRUSTRATIONS, SECRET DEEP CRIES, FEELING SORRY FOR MYSELF MOMENTS, ONE STEP FORWARD - TWO STEPS BACK, I THANKED MYSELF everyday for having accomplished TINY TASKS I set for myself. 

I was finally ready to PIVOT... 

On the day of handing in my resignation letter, I had NO FEAR. It was very surreal as I only felt the CONFIDENCE and TRUST that GOOD THINGS were waiting for me. My boss even told me that he was "SO JEALOUS" of me.    

IT WAS (still is) THE BEST DECISION of my life. 

Today, I FEEL WHOLE... beyond the identity of an UP-AND-COMING ARTIST who is living a FULFILLING LIFE. My PHYSICAL and MENTAL HEALTH are amazing! I'm surrounded by SMART & THOUGHT-PROVOKING people who like me for who I am. Everyday, I LOOK FORWARD to turning up to work!

About Me

Roselyn Yap

Berlin (DE) based contemporary artist focusing on women's rights; a free artistic expressionist who is not bound by formal art education. 

I use flower and botanical subjects to communicate my message in my art. Hence, I mentor hobby flower and botanical artists who seek to transform themselves and create the lives they have always dreamed of. 

I use my YouTube channel BloomBot Studio and Reddit community r/BotanicalArtCareers as mediums to connect with these courageous people.

I'm currently preparing for my solo exhibition in September 2025. The working title is "Women are Flowers, Girls are Birds". It comprises a large installation of paintings and photographs.
